Photographer braves the shark-infested ocean and razor-sharp reef just to capture breathtaking underwater photographs of surfers serenely gliding within massive 30ft waves.
A photographer risked within a bone-crunching sea swell and man-eating sharks in order to capture all these awesome underwater images of a surfer riding a giant 30 ft wave.
Courageous Lucia Griggi, at the age of 30, captured the incredible photographs away from the coast of Fiji.
This British snapper travelled at that place to cover a surfing battle in June, a year ago.
Among the impressive collection of photographs was a shot of the exact time when surfer Stu Johnson clings through to his surfing board as he suddenly passes underwater.
Lucia stated: ‘I went to Fiji to cover the Volcom Pro competition which attracts some of the world’s best surfers.
‘I jumped in the water before the waves got too big and churn up the water and create too much turbulence to take good images.
‘The problem with shooting underwater is it can take a while to get the right shot.
‘You have to line-up the surfer and follow them in the water. You wait for them to decide which way they’re going to ride the wave.
‘The wave breaks a certain way and they then ride the wall of the wave.
