Italian Innovative Underwater Robot

An Italian power company ENI has created a state of the art up-to-the-minute robotic device effective at monitoring environmental conditions of the sea beds underwater, with no immediate advice from or contact to surface vessels. The unit, called Clean Sea, will concentrate mostly on surveying the sites around off-shore oil and gas installations, and checking pipelines for indications of leakage or even wear and tear.

What is actually stunning about Clean Sea as compared to former versions is the ability to work independently and without the annoyance of a connecting wire cable towards a surface vessel. And is also accustomed to assess conditions of current installations, it will likely facilitate planning out upcoming construction with the least disturbance to the encompassing wildlife.
